Back Rows Best

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The best rows for women are the last ones and the worst are the front ones.” [Sahih Muslim]

Women have been encouraged by the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) to pray at home, making it more convenient for them to harvest multifold reward while managing their homes and families.

However, they are allowed to come to the Masjid if they are fully veiled and the Masjid has a separate area for them, so that there is no chance of men and women seeing each other.

While greater reward for men is in the leading rows, the greater reward for women is in the backmost rows. The greatest reward for women is in praying at home.
