Breadwinners Effort and Restraint

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “He who makes efforts to maintain his family out of lawful earnings is like a fighter in the way of Allah and he who seeks lawful earnings after restraining himself will get the rank of a martyr.” [Ihya Ulum Id-Din by Imam Ghazali]

The world sees a dusty, disheveled labourer sitting in the shade of a tree. His meager earnings barely put out his children’s hunger. But he who sees with the light of faith envies this Muslim, who will have such an easy reckoning and high status on the Day of Judgement.
