Financial Planning

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said that Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) said: “O son of Adam! Spend your treasure in the cause of Allah. With me there is no fear of its getting burnt, drowned, or stolen. In its place whatever you will need, I will give to you.” [Baihaqui]

It happens many a time that we try to plan for all unforeseen circumstances. We go to a great deal of trouble in terms of financial planning and social networking to take care of our future needs. Yet, despite all this planning, we have to face the worst of circumstances.

In this Hadith Qudsi, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) is telling us that instead of preparing for all contingencies ourselves, we should trust in Him, as none can take care of us as He can. If we spend in His path, instead of spending on ourselves, He will spend on us, when and where we need it most.
