Hadith Explanation

Heretics Abuse the Companions

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever abuses my Companions, upon them is the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people.” [At-Tabaraanee]

Allah, the Most High, has declared for eternity that He is pleased with the Companions of His Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) in the Quran: Surah al-Hashr, Ayaat 8-10, Surah At-Tawbah, Ayat 100 and Surah Al-Fath, Ayat 18.

Thus, it is not permissible for us to harbour ill-feeling towards any of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum) and we should hate those who have any ill-feeling against any of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum).

Indeed, those who attack the Companions  (radi Allahu anhum) are wicked heretics seeking to destroy Islam, since the whole religion was transmitted to us by the Companions (radi Allahu anhum).
